Online poker has become world famous lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its TV scores. Over the years numerous variations on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no conniving or other kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the croupier announcing "No further bets." At that point, both you and the house and of course all of the different players acquire 5 cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s value is equal to your beginning wager, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your bet goes immediately to the casino. After the bet comes the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, plus a sum equal to the original wager. If the bank does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The dealer pays out cash even with your wager and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
