[ English ]

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players around the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
