Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

October 25th, 2015 at 20:21

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
