Focus on Annie Duke

March 10th, 2010 at 4:21

Annie Duke might not have earned her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is still one of the most powerful poker competitors around the live action games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha high-low.

While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker run crazy following a big win at the tables, Annie heads back home to be "mom" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of card competitors. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to wager on the game.

However, Mrs. Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has won her share of hard tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They’re both players that have the skill to acquire the large bucks and do so with a grin.

Annie Duke is a tough player at any table considering that she is a natural poker player, but it is a little more than just being skilled at the game. Mrs. Duke is very smart and graduated from Columbia University where she double majored in Psychology and English.

When you are seated across from her at the poker table you’ll see she is there to play the game and she begins "summing" you up as soon as you sit down at the game table. If you can’t gamble like a winner, then don’t waste your time.

Earning over three million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie Duke became a adviser to both the UltimateBet website and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his skills and develop into a force at the tables.

You might see her at the Bellagio, you’ll observe her on the tv and you might even compete against her in a net poker game, but don’t count on a simple win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you won’t defeat her. Although, it would be exciting to mention you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
